What Kind Of Treatments Do You Offer At MaxWell?

MaxWell Medical is a full-service,multi-disciplinary sports medicine practice.What that means is we have several different philosophies and approaches to treating musculoskeletal conditions while working together.We offer physical therapy,chiropractic care,massage therapy,and acupuncture.Combining therapies not only has the benefit of addressing all components of physical injuries but it has a powerful synergistic effect that typically allows healing to take place in a fraction of the time it would take if using one therapy.

How Quickly Can I Be Seen For An Appointment?

We know that when you are in pain,there is little else you can think about besides getting out of pain.For this reason,we make every effort to,and usually can,see patients the same day they call for an appointment.We have a doctor on staff every hour and we are open 24/7 for this very reason.We want you to start feeling better soon – so we make every accommodation to make that possible.

Do I Need A Referral From My Primary Care Doctor To Get Treatment At MaxWell Medical?

Because we are an out-of-network provider it is not necessary to receive a referral from your primary care physician.However,any medical notes or diagnosis done by your primary care physician can help us adequately determine your medical history and better set-up your treatment plans.

What Is The Best Time To Come To Your Office If I Don't Want To Wait?

It depends.There are certain times at our facility that are the busiest.It is usually during our lunch hour or after work that has the most flow of traffic.To receive therapy at your earliest convenience we suggest you speak to the front desk for any early hour appointments before work or mid-day appointments in the afternoon.

What Type Of Diagnostic Testing Is Offered At Your Facility?

At MaxWell Medical we understand and respect your concern for receiving diagnostic testing.After an evaluation with our board certified physiatrists,it is recommended to either have an X-ray,EMG,or MRI taken.Each test is done when necessary and appropriate for the treatment of a patient’s ailment.Our doctors can conduct EMG testing,perform X-rays,and refer you to an outside facility for MRIs.We have advanced digital processing for X-rays.This allows us to save X-ray images on files to share with you,to establish a report of findings.It is important to understand why each test is conducted and more importantly,educating the patient on their health about their X-rays and other diagnostic testing via e-mail.

Can I Get A Copy Of My Medical Records?

Yes,you will have access to your medical records whenever necessary.If the doctor recommends seeing a specialist outside of our facility,we will release your records to a different medical provider with your clearance.With our new state-of-art X-ray imaging,we are even able to extend all progress notes,including your X-rays and other diagnostic testing via e-mail.

Are All Of Your Providers Licensed?

Will I Have To Repeat My Symptoms To Each Doctor?

No,here at MaxWell Medical we take a team approach to care.Every morning we have team meetings in which we discuss the progression of each patient’s care.This is beneficial to you as a patient because your physical therapist,chiropractor,or medical doctor will cover any gaps in your care.But,there may be some occasions in which we’ll ask for your current pain scale and symptoms.We believe that patients should have a running dialogue with their therapists to remain informed about their treatment plan.

What Is A Treatment Plan?

A treatment plan is the doctor’s assessment of your symptoms and recommendation for treatment.He/she will establish the use of different modalities to be utilized in the treatment of your condition.All treatment plans are individualized and our board certified physiatrists set treatment based on frequency and duration.It is uniquely designed depending on numerous factors,such as medical history,symptoms,and the necessity of diagnostic testing.With all the variables in mind,our doctors set treatment plans usually for 1-3 times a week,over a 2-4 week period.It is then that the patient is reevaluated depending on care and progression of pain relief.

How Often Will I See The Doctor?

On your initial visit,you will be seen by the medical doctor and he/she will establish a treatment plan for you.The doctor will reevaluate you within 2 weeks and then,every 4 weeks.Follow-up exams are crucial for evaluating a patient’s progress.Our board certified physiatrists review and reassess your conditions for any new symptoms.By doing so,they are able to adjust treatment plans accordingly to your need.These exams are also an excellent opportunity for you to have dialogue with our doctors about your healthcare.

What Types Of Medical Services Do Your Doctors Offer?

Here at MaxWell Medical,you are able to receive a multitude of services.This includes comprehensive physical exams that are used to create individualized treatment plans.We also offer trigger point therapy,EMG testing,and the order and review of all MRI reports.

What Occurs During The Trigger Point Injection Therapy?

Trigger point injection therapy is actually a very simple and short procedure.The majority of trigger point injections are performed in your doctor’s office,or at a clinic specializing in pain reduction therapy.The procedure takes about 10 minutes.You will be asked to sit or lie down in a comfortable position.The physician will palpate your skin,looking for the trigger points that are causing you pain.Once the trigger point has been detected,your doctor may use a special needle connected to a monitor or locate the exact position of your trigger point.When the trigger point has been found,a needle containing 3 to 5 ml of local anesthetic(usually lidocaine)will be injected directly into the site.

How Do Trigger Point Injections Feel?

Trigger point injections aren’t painful,but they do cause some discomfort.As your doctor palpates your skin to find the trigger point,you may feel some aching or burning pain.You may also notice that you have a twitch reaction when the trigger point is located.The injection itself will not be that painful.When the needle enters the trigger point you may feel some pain,but it should only last for a few seconds.

How Long Do Treatment Sessions Last?

That depends on several factors like what we are treating you for,if you are an established patient or a new patient,what treatments you are getting on that visit etc.Some treatments take longer than others.In general,new patients can expect to be at the office for approximately one hour,and established patient visits typically last 40-50 minutes.We are exceptionally conscious of how valuable your time is and we go to great lengths to streamline our office procedures so you can get outstanding treatment in a reasonable amount of time.We strive to keep office visits under one hour,regardless of how busy we are…

That depends on many variables.The extent of your injury,the area of the body we are treating,your overall level of health,and most importantly your compliance with your treatment plan and home exercise program are just a few factors that need to be considered in answering this question.We do schedule frequent and regular follow-ups with all our providers to evaluate for the need to adjust treatment frequency.Ideally,we will treat you until you are out of pain,you have reached maximum medical improvement,and you are equipped with the skills and knowledge that will allow you to be pain-free.That is our goal.Typically patients are seen frequently for approximately 2-3 months.

If I Am Pregnant,Can I Get Treatment For My Back Pain?

We specialize in all types of therapies,including prenatal therapy.Our licensed Massage Therapists and Physical Therapists are trained to work with patients in hopes of relieving any pain or discomfort that comes from being pregnant.We usually work on patients in their second trimester and obtaining clearance from their OB/GYN.

Do I have to file my own insurance claims?

No,we take care of all the paperwork for you.Insurance companies require dozens of documents and consistent calls to render payment for services.At our facility we want you to concentrate on your number one priority:you!Our billing and collection department updates their records daily and you are notified your very first visit what we,at MaxWell expect from you and your insurance company.

Do you take my insurance?

We recommend that you give us your insurance information prior to your appointment so that you can make an informed decision on choosing to continue with MaxWell Medical.On your initial visit the office manager will go over in detail with you the summary of your insurance benefits.We do accept most insurance on an out-of-network basis and will gladly go over your policy with you so you understand exactly what your benefits are and whether you have any financial obligations.
